The SLF is delighted to announce that David Howarth will be giving this year's Beveridge Lecture on Liberal Equality.
David is Professor of Law and Public Policy at Cambridge University, Head of the University’s Department of Land Economy and a Fellow of Clare College, Cambridge. He was the Liberal Democrat MP for Cambridge from 2005-10 after serving as Leader of the Council. He served as an Electoral Commissioner between 2010-2018. David is an authoritative commentator on Liberalism and a longtime supporter of the SLF. He is the author of articles such as ‘What is Social Liberalism?’ and (with others) ‘What do the British public think of inequality in health, wealth, and power?’.
The event will be chaired by Sarah Green MP, a former director of the SLF.
This event will be be the first time that the SLF has run a blended event. Up to 70 people will be able to attend in person at the National Liberal Club in a socially distanced manner. The event will be followed by a reception at the Club with a cash bar. It will be on the terrace if the weather allows and in the (non-) Smoking Room if necessary.
Simultaneously, the SLF will stream it virtually to enable another 500 people to attend virtually and to submit questions.
