SLF are holding a series of events in 2025 looking at "What do the Liberal Democrats stand for" and "how can we recover the economy without resorting to more austerity".

We will be tackling these issues and more at this conference.

We are delighted to announce that Lisa Smart, MP for Hazel Grove, Christine Cheng from the Federal Policy Committee, Carl Cashman, leader of Liverpool Liberal Democrats, and Maggie Lishman, Deputy Leader of Burnley Council have agreed to speak at this event.

This event also includes the SLF AGM.

Session 1, 11:00 – 12:00, Annual General Meeting

This session will act as the SLF’s AGM, and include constitutional items we must attend to.

Session 2, 12:00 – 13:00, Has the International Order ended? How do we respond?

This session will focus on how the Liberal Democrats can offer a distinct vision for how we see the UK fit into the international order. It will include discussion on hard power and soft power, strengthening supply chains and our relationship with major international blocs including the US, China, Europe and non-aligned countries in BRICS.

Session 3, 14:00 - 15:00, Panel - Home Office - the Liberal approach in the age of Reform.

This session will act as one of the key sessions surrounding the SLF’s vision workstream. It will focus on how the Liberal Democrats present ourselves as the leading party of Liberal ideas in our country’s politics. It will focus on the responsibilities of the Home Office, including immigration, justice and security.

Session 4, 15:15 – 16:45, Panel - Should the Liberal Democrats be the Community Champions? Is there a future in Community Politics?

This session will focus on how the Liberal Democrats can offer a distinct vision for our local communities. It will include discussion on local government, the balance between listening and directly representing constituents, and leading constituents in particular directions, and strengthening community politics and community cohesion.
