2025 Autumn Lib Dem Conference

The Liberal Democrat Autumn 2025 Conference was another great success for the Social Liberal Forum, with a number of fringe sessions and other events with high profile speakers attending.

Our first session was held at the launch of the Conference, bringing together Social Liberal Forum members for a pre-conference Dinner with guest speaker Dr Roz Savage MP. Roz is the MP for South Cotswolds and has gained particular prominence in recent years following her campaigning on the Climate and Nature Bill, securing wins including on restoration of nature, emissions and nature impacts overseas. You can find out more about Roz' work here.

For our second session, we were delighted to have Liberal Democrat Business Spokesperson, Sarah Olney MP, speak on the important issue of SMEs in the UK. Sarah became MP for Richmond Park after the 2016 By-election, and has since held positions including Spokesperson for the Treasury. She has long-championed issues including access to finance for businesses, protecting businesses from the harms of Brexit and ensuring a stronger, more secure economy. You can find out more about Sarah's work here.

For our final fringe session, we brought together Bobby Dean MP, Ann Pettifor and Tim Leunig to speak on "Rethinking Economics", with all three of our panelists being experts in various areas of macroeconomics and fiscal policy. Bobby, in particular, was selected to take up one of two Liberal Democrat positions on the Treasury Select Committee, since his election in 2024. This means he has had a unique opportunity to challenge senior economists including the Chancellor Rachel Reeves MP, on various economic policies. You can find out more about Bobby's work here.
